If you lived here, (in North Malaysia i mean) chances are you have been to Thailand and tasted their super delicious Thai cuisine; particularly tomyam. Danok and Hatyai offers variaties of restaurant and stall which would give you the authentic tomyam flavor, and set high benchmark for your taste bud for tomyam.
I came from Jitra, Kedah and worked in Alor Setar, Kedah. Most of the times, when dining out, tomyam is a must have menu in our list i-dont-know-why. Apart from Malay-Thai Restaurant "Mahani & Johari", which quite famous in Jitra for its tomyam and thai cuisine, I honestly don't know where to suggest or where to bring them when my friend (out from Kedah) came here and said "Let's have the most delicious tomyam for dinner".
Until I saw my senior posted in her Facebook account and I then discover the place myself; Dee Dee Thai Restaurant. Man oh man this place offers you the best super yummy tomyam in the whole world!!! Ok maybe I am exaggerating, but you get what I mean. I have never tasted best tomyam as what i have tasted here. (by taste I mean eat and slurp the gravy until last drop haha) Their tomyam is super nice. They bring the tomyam to another level I guess. Way better than what you eat at SR. The gravy is not too light, and not too thick. They put santan (or milk?) just nice for you to have the creamy feel and taste. I actually do not really sure of what they put in their tomyam, but for small size tomyam priced at RM15, you will have 2 giant prawns, fresh squid, sweet fish and mushrooms in one medium bowl. Trust me you will never eat tomyam elsewhere anymore. Haha. Other dishes like sotong goreng tepung is also very addictive, and the kerabu suun is fingers licking gooood. Oh my god I am salivating while typing this.
The food were delicious, the service was prompt, the price was reasonable. I definitely will come here again!
